4 Activities for The Long Weekend

Posted by Lydia Burdett

Memorial Day weekend marks the unofficial start of summer, and there are plenty of great activities to kick off the season. The long weekend provides a little extra time to enjoy the outdoors, not to mention the warm, sunny weather. It’s time to shrug off your winter blues and embrace the longer days and make some outdoor plans for the long weekend. Whether you are headed to hang with friends and families, fire up the BBQ or get out into the great outdoors, its sure to be a great weekend to embrace the spirit of summer.

1. Soak in the sun at the beach

After the cold days of winter, there is no better feeling than sinking your toes into the sand and letting the surf wash over your feet. So, a perfect way to spend Memorial Day is to organize a beach day with friends and family. Spend the day building sandcastles, playing beach volleyball, and basking in the sun's warm rays. And whether to change for swimming, or just warm up, the Quick Dry Change Robe is a must have for any beach-going activities. The Microfiber Towel is also a to stretch out on the sand to read a book or take a quick nap and soak in the day’s rays. And the best part about a day at the beach for the long weekend, is that it is just the first of many.

2. Gather around the grill

There is no better way to spend the long weekend, than to fire up the BBQ and have a backyard grill out with all your favorite people. So, dust off the lawn furniture, or set up in your favorite park, and prepare to party. Once you fire up the grill it becomes the center of attention, giving off tantalizing aromas, as everyone clinks their drinks and celebrates summer. Don’t forget the Waterproof Soft Cooler Bag to bring along all your favorite refreshments and keep them refreshingly cold. The 18L Cooler Bag fits a whopping 28 cans, because no one likes showing up to a BBQ empty handed.

3. Pack a picnic

Maybe the backyard is too confining for you, and you want to enjoy a picnic far from the maddening crowds. The transition from spring to summer brings blooming flowers and lush greenery, so who wouldn’t want to stretch their legs and enjoy the fresh air. So, pack up the Insulated Backpack Cooler Bag, and head for the hills, either to hike or bike. Whether your destination is a scenic overlook, an alpine meadow, or under a shady tree, spread out your blanket and bust out the backpack full of goodies. Every step was worth it to enjoy tasty snacks and chilled beverages alongside your hiking buddies. If one thing says “summer is here” its heading into the outdoors with good company.

4. SUP with your Pup

Hit the water for a paddle with your best (four legged) friend. Just like you have felt cooped up all summer, your pup is also ready to head outdoors and start summer adventures with a splash. If you are new to paddling with your pooch, take it slow, practicing your balance, and staying close to the shore. When you are feeling confident, and stable, head out across the water, with your furry co-pilot at the bow. Safety is always paramount, so make sure you have a Quick Release Belt and Leash for yourself, so you are never separated from your board. The Dog Buoyancy Aid will keep your four-legged companion safe around the water. Even if you never leave the dock, the Buoyancy Aid is a great way to keep your dog safe while swimming. Paddleboarding with a furry companion by your side is an adventure that blends tranquility and joy in perfect harmony.

Regardless of the activity, Memorial Day weekend offers a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the arrival of summer in a fun and memorable way with your favorite people.
